I didn't think much of this one at the time, but the memory nagged at me all evening and I remember waking up inexplicably upset from it. I had a dream about some sort of platform game (which I recognize is a problem in itself). The object of this game was to save the princess, but what happened in this dream bore very little resemblance to the setting that the dream informed me. During the last stages you had to ride a motorbike along a curved path in the air, and you arrived at a set of pipes going down through the surface. The princess - who was the Juliet sprite from Klik and Play (pictured at bottom corner of mouse) - was then seen to jump down one of these pipes, and the apparent objective was to follow her. Except... you had to pay attention not to the pipe that she jumped down, but to the one that her hair (which had somehow detached) had gone down instead - perhaps there were some confused shades of Braid at work here? Nevertheless, while the first pipe looked safe at the bottom, the actual correct pipe led down into something that was apparently a deep fat frier, but that was filled with custard-like yellow stuff that didn't look like oil at all. When the player jumped down into it, he disappeared right under, it bubbled and sizzled madly, and then streaks of a different colour rose to the surface, eventually forming letters to spell out "FIRST SCENE MAY BE MATURE - JC" (and I remember recognizing "JC" as being the author's initials). However... the trick here was that you were mean to recognize that these words were spelled out in green and not red, and that... somehow meant that you could continue after all. But naturally I couldn't see the difference, and didn't know that it was possible to carry on. 2010-06-26 15:42:00 Comment on this entry |
