SomethingAwful has started a thread on Hatoful Boyfriend, but I haven't checked it much because reading it is like watching a village parks and gardens committee trying to play the game - there are about four actual updates in ten pages, and they're so full of going back and forth as to how to lay out and narrate it that they drown out most of any progress. However, as more people discover this game and reality itself continues to evert slowly downwards, new signs of madness begin to emerge, like so many rubber ducks in a gradually draining bathtub of pudding.

Over this last week at work, I was introduced to a new database person who happens to be called Christian Reich. I heard it over the phone at first and was sure that I must have misheard, or that they had accidentally used the name of his black metal band instead - but if you Google it (something I felt I could only do private browsing), you'll see it's not even a unique name. I'm not sure I want to imagine the people capable of writing that on a birth certificate and not seeing an extraordinarily terrifying combination of words in front of them.

That evening, at the furniture shop of madness - where we had gone to watch a film, for reasons explained previously - we were walking through the time-compressed living rooms and I saw that, true to my previous comments, they had started selling black holes (pictured). There was a coffee table with a similar infinite expanse trailing off into darkness in the centre of it - and I could sort of understand its existence, but I don't know who would want a matching portal for their wall.

And when we were out at lunch today, the woman behind the counter said (in the middle of a befuddled exchange) that she was distracted because I sounded like "that man on BBC America who interviews celebrities". "Graham Norton?", suggested Whitney, and I was absolutely horrified when the woman's face lit up in recognition. This is a new record - quite apart from the campness which I don't think I possess, they could at least compare me to people from the right country.

I'm still not quite over the whole Scrooge McDuck thing, either.
